SHILLONG: Though the proscribed HNLC is active in Bangladesh, the cadre strength has come down drastically in the last few years.
Informing this here on Thursday, a Meghalaya Police official said that these cadres are desperate to come to Shillong and join the mainstream.
The Meghalaya Police, however, at the moment does not have exact data about the number of the cadres, the official said.
Besides reduction in the cadre strength, the fire power of the militants has come down considerably.
It may be mentioned that recently a cadre of the outfit Korlandar Nongsiej surrendered before the Officer-In-Charge, Lumdiengjri Police Station, Shillong.
The official also informed that there is no intelligence input if the HNLC is regrouping or recruiting new cadres.
