SHILLONG: Reacting to news report of the rape of two girls, Chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), M. Kharkongor, said on Friday that the court should have restrained passing any orders without going through the case diary.
In a press statement, she said the case needs to be re-examined considering that the alleged accused, C. Khonglam, former DTO of Jowai, is a government servant.
Kharkongor said that the girls were sent to a Psychiatrist at Jowai Civil Hospital for treatment and counselling and further reports are still awaited.
She observed that the court order was passed in a hurried manner which creates hurdles in serving justice to the victims.
She informed that the State Commission shall take up the matter with the concerned SP and the court which had granted interim bail.
