Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister and Congress Legislature Party leader Tarun Gogoi on Friday hit out at the BJP-led NDA Government for its attention drifting policy, claimed that the rank and file of the Congress strongly rallied behind the All India Congress Committee in its endeavour of “save democracy march”.
In a statement here, Gogoi said Modi Government instead of materialising its much publicised rhetoric ‘acche-din’ is up for crushing democracy by imposing President’s Rule and toppling democratically elected government in Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh. Gogoi also termed it as an attack on the democratic and federal structure of the country and said that the Congress will keep fighting for its legitimate cause of saving the democracy.
Gogoi also said that in order to hide its failure and to divert public attention from the basic issues, the NDA Government is blowing the Agusta Westland a huge issue. Gogoi said, “UPA Government when it was in power black listed the company and initiated an exhaustive probe to unearth the truth behind the issue”.
However, the Modi Government instead of zeroing in on the issue is making a bizarre attempt to divert public attention from its failures like checking price rise, unemployment, drought and other agrarian crisis to name a few that grappled the country. Gogoi however, said that the NDA Government instead of finding the real culprit seemed to be leading the people to quagmire in the chopper deal and misleading the Nation.
Gogoi also has words of advice for the Centre and said that the NDA Government instead of indulging in its inherent character of mud-slinging business should order a Supreme Court monitored inquiry in AgustaWestland chopper deal and let the country know the truth associated with the issue.
