295 recruits take part in ARC passing out parade

SHILLONG: As many as 295 recruits of 315 batch of the Assam Regimental Centre participated in an attestation parade on Saturday in a ceremony conducted at Parson Parade Ground of Assam Regimental Centre here. The Parade was reviewed by Lieutenant General Subrata Saha, Deputy Chief of Army Staff (P&S) and Colonel of the Assam Regiment & Arunachal Scouts. The parade was graced by the proud parents and relatives of the passing out trainees. A large number of military dignitaries and civilian guests were also present. In his address to the attested young soldiers, the reviewing officer extolled the virtues of selfless service to the nation and recounted the contributions of the North East and Assam Regiment towards nation building. Raised on June 15, 1941, this is the platinum jubilee year of the regiment. Complementing the passing out batch for their immaculate standards, the general encouraged the warriors from the North East to persevere in pursuit of excellence. Lt Gen Saha announced that the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the regiment will be held from November 16 to 19. Earlier, reacting to a query on less representation of North Eastern youths in the armed forces, the Deputy Chief of Army Staff (P&S) said that Assam Regiment is in all the seven states and the formula is to recruit male population. He also said that the recruitment of the Assam regiment is proportionally distributed in the North East.
