SHILLONG: The State government has written to the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas demanding setting up of a LPG bottling plant in the State in the wake of the severe shortage of cooking gas cylinders.
Informing this on Wednesday, Chief Secretary K.S. Kropha said so far there has been no response from the Centre in this regard.
Consumers in Shillong and its suburbs are facing a severe shortage of cooking gas as distribution of LPG cylinders has become highly irregular.
Earlier, the IOC too had expressed its willingness to set up a bottling plant in the State but the plan never materialized due to various reasons.
