Lecture
Women’s College, Shillong, is organising a guest lecture on ‘Skill Development and Women with reference to North East India’ on Saturday at 3 PM in the college auditorium. The guest speaker is Ranjan Chatterjee, Expert Member, NGT.
Felicitation
Women’s College, Shillong, will felicitate Prof. J.B. Bhattacharjee, President, Education India Trust, ex-professor of NEHU and ex-Vice-Chancellor, Assam University, Silchar, on Saturday at 3 PM in the college auditorium for being awarded with Sir Jadunath Sarkar Gold Medal.
Medical camp
The YWCA, Shillong is organising a free medical camp at Umpling Dorbar Hall, Shillong, on Saturday at 10 AM.
Training
The Basin Development Unit, Jowai in collaboration with Spice Board, Shillong, organised one day training on turmeric and ginger cultivation at District Library Auditorium, Jowai on Friday. Along with 200 farmers from Thadlaskein and Laskein C&RD Block, the training was also attended by West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Arunkumar Kembhavi.
HR conclave
The Department of Management along with the Department of Agri Business and Food Technology, NEHU, Tura organized its 5th Annual HR Conclave – SYNERGOS 2016 – at its campus on Friday.
Coaching
The coaching-cum-guidance centre for SCs and STs, Shillong will conduct a 20 day coaching programme for unemployed SC/ST candidates appearing or preparing to appear in any non-technical graduate level competitive exams this year, from May 23 to June 17. The coaching will be conducted on all weekdays from 10:30 AM to 3 PM.
Cleaning drive
The office of the Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forestry Division, West Khasi Hills, Nongstoin, observed the International Day for Biological Diversity cum cleaning drive on Thursday at Rev. J.J.M. Nichol’s Roy Memorial Secondary School, Nongstoin.
Relief
The Believers Church Shillong, Diocese conducted a free distribution of tin sheets to families in Rongjeng, East Garo Hills, on May 19 affected by hailstones on April 17. The materials were distributed by Rev Fr. K. Issac, State Diocesan Secretary Shillong Diocese.
Birth anniv
The Red Oleanders will organise the 155th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at U Soso Tham Auditorium on May 22 from 5 PM.
Shaab-E-Baraat
The Muslim Graveyard Mawprem and Mohammadia-Al-Hussainee Committee Naspatighari, Barapathar point informed that the Shaab-E-Baraat festival will be celebrated on May 22.
Body in morgue
An unidentified male aged around 35 years was admitted at Shillong civil hospital male surgical ward on May 15 and he expired on May 18. Relatives have to collect the body from the morgue of the hospital within May 22 after which the body will be sent for disposal.
