Plea to declare holiday on May 27

SHILLONG: Bhartiya Narendra Modi Sangh, Meghalaya State Committee has urged the State Government to declare a holiday on May 27 in view of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a statement issued to the media on Sunday, the Committee said that there is a need to ensure that least inconvenience is caused to the public in general on this occasion due to security and traffic arrangements as May 27 falls on a Friday.
“Since May 27 is a regular working day, we urge the Government and the District Administration to declare it a public holiday so that there is no inconvenience caused to school students, office goers and others,” the statement said.
Moreover, it will be a great opportunity for the people of the city to hear him speak during the public gathering, the Committee said.
