Two dacoits arrested

SHILLONG: Mawlai police has busted a dacoity gang by arresting two members of the gang in an early morning operation on Sunday.
In a statement issued to the press, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police M. Kharkrang said the arrested dacoits – Raju Biswa (36) and Chandra Prakash (36) – were involved in looting     truck drivers and petrol pumps in Mawiong area on several occasions.
However, a third gang member managed to escape in a vehicle used by them.
The arrested dacoits who hail from Iew Mawlong were caught red handed while committing the crime.
Police recovered eight mobile phones, 17 SIM cards, Rs.8400, 1 khukri (knife) and two numbers of used syringes from their possession.
The victims of the looting identified the dacoits as being involved in about eight cases of robbery and had been arrested earlier on similar criminal charges.
