TURA: Newly elected Tura MP, Conrad K Sangma is currently on a tour of the Garo hills to express appreciation to the voters for electing him to the 2-Tura Parliamentary Constituency seat in the recently concluded May 16 by-poll.
Sangma’s tour of the Garo hills began on Friday during which two meetings were organized at Chibinang and Phulbari. The next day, he covered areas like Rajabala, Old and New Baitbari and Singgimari. On Sunday, his tour took him to Mahendraganj and Zikzak areas. Sangma was greeted by a large number of his supporters at the places he visited.
Sangma, while speaking to the people during his tour, attributed his success in the by-elections to the earlier achievements of his father late PA Sangma.
Sangma expressed appreciation to the workers and members of the NPP who worked tirelessly during and before the elections as well as other political parties like the GNC, UDP, KHNAM, BJP and HSPDP who supported his candidature.
He said that the people of Garo Hills had voted in unison irrespective of community, religion and region taking into perspective the overall development of Garo Hills.
“I thank the people from the tribal and non-tribal community including the Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Hajongs, Kochs, Bodos, Rabhas and all those who voted for me during the election. As an MP my duty is to work together with all of you irrespective of which party, community, area or religion you belong to,” Conrad said.
