SHILLONG: The Achik Youth Council (AYC) has asked the state government to declare Tura as winter capital to bring the administration closer to the people.
In a memorandum sent to the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Tuesday, the AYC said that Tura should be declared the winter capital of Meghalaya as poor people from Garo Hills find it difficult to come all the way from the far flung areas of the region to the state capital Shillong to address their various needs.
