World Environment Week celebrations conclude on a high

SHILLONG: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, Shillong and Basin Development Unit, East Khasi Hills district organized the Environment Week on the theme ‘Zero Tolerance for the Illegal Wildlife Trade’ which concluded on Friday at a function held at Moreau Institute of Integral Training, here.
The NSS Unit of Shillong College conducted a two days programme on June 8- 9, to observe the World Environment Day, where different competions for students were held.
The NSS Unit of St. Edmund’s College commemorated the World Environment Day in a very different way. The volunteers built ‘Birds Home’ and kept on tree branches and rooftops with the expectation that the campus which was known to housed different species of birds a decade back will once more see that change.
