SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) in a letter to the Chairman and Managing Director, North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) demanded that the scheduled test for the posts of trainee engineers (C), trainee engineer (E/M), trainee personnel officer and trainee accounts officer to be held on June 26 be immediately cancelled.
The KSU, central body demanded that the tests should be conducted only after re-advertisement with wide publicity. “The lack of sufficient publicity is apparent from the dismal number of applicants and candidates from the Northeastern states,” the KSU observed.
The KSU also took exception to the fact that seven out of the 10 test centres were in Delhi and only the remaining three were in the North East.
“All tests centre should be located in the North East,” the Union said adding that it will seek the NESO’s assistance if NEEPCO fails to act in this regard.
“If NEEPCO with its headquarters in Shillong shares a genuine concern for the unemployed youth here, it should designate all test centres in the Northeastern state capitals,” the KSU said.
