JOWAI: Bringing to light yet another case of headman abusing his power, the All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organisation (AJYWO) on Monday alleged that the headman and some members of the dorbar of Kseh village have deprived a family of the right to avail all government welfare schemes and other benefits.
“The action amounted to violation of the fundamental rights of the family,” the AJYWO alleged adding that even though the matter was brought to the notice of the district administration, no serious action has been taken against the accused.
According to the AJYWO, the family of one Chalis Dkhar was allegedly socially boycotted by the headman, Hanly Dkhar and his associates from the village dorbar. The AJYWO also lodged a complaint with the East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner in this regard.
