SHILLONG: A BJP delegation led by its president Shibun Lyngdoh called on Meghalaya Governor V. Shanmuganathan at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
Sources said the BJP delegation discussed various issues concerning the State.
When contacted, the state BJP president said the delegation met the Governor to thank him for the assistance provided during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Shillong.
Lyngdoh said the visit was to thank the Governor since his help was instrumental in the large participation of people at Polo Grounds during the Prime Minister’s visit to Shillong.
“The State government did not help us in this regard and hence we had sought help from the Governor which ensured large participation of people at Polo Grounds on May 27,” Lyngdoh said.
When asked whether the BJP delegation discussed the political situation in the State, Lyngdoh said, “It was just a courtesy call”.
