SHILLONG: The Centre is yet to give nod to the proposal of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to grant extension of service for three months to DGP Rajiv Mehta, who will be retiring on Thursday.
Earlier in May, the chief minister had written to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to extend the DGP’s services for three more months “in view of the continuity of anti-insurgency operations” in Garo Hills.
Sources on Tuesday said the Centre is yet to approve the proposal.
The chief minister, who is presently camping in New Delhi, is likely to pursue the matter with the Home Ministry.
