SHILLONG: Coming out in support of KHADC CEM P.N. Syiem, EM Neil Antonio War, on Wednesday termed MDC James Sylliang’s statement as childish and even called for his removal from the EC for making unworthy comments against the CEM and the executive committee.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, War said, “It is the CEM’s prerogative to remove him though. In my personal opinion there is no need for him to be an EM.”
“People are being misled by Independent MDC James Sylliang and HSPDP MDC Pyniaid Sing Syiem who have all along criticized the air travel as nothing but waste of public money,” he added.
War stated the EMs and CEM P.N. Syiem frequented Delhi for official matters. “Had we  gone to Mumbai, Bangalore or Goa it could have been termed as wastage of public money,” he said.
He lauded the CEM for his efforts in dealing with various difficulties faced by the district council with regards to non allocation of funds and delay in release of special assistance.
Deputy CEM P.T. Sawkmie, meanwhile, said trips to New Delhi are the prerogative of the CEM and there is no need to discuss the same in the executive committee.
