SHILLONG: The AICC general secretary in charge Meghalaya CP Joshi, who arrived here on Monday night, was in a denial mode when asked about the demand of the dissidents for a change of leadership.
When his reaction was sought on the demand for change of leadership by the dissidents, Joshi said, “I am not aware of this”.
To the repeated questions on his assessment of the political situation in Meghalaya, the AICC leader told reporters that he has to first acquaint himself about the party matters in the state.
“I have to understand myself the party affairs in Meghalaya”, Joshi said.
To a query on whether there will be a CLP meeting on Tuesday, the AICC leader said he would meet MLAs who are part of PCC indicating that no CLP meeting has been scheduled to settle the leadership issue once and for all.
When asked on the comments of BJP leader Nalin Kohli about the fall of the Congress led MUA-II government in the state, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma intervened and said,” Floor management is my job. As a seasoned politician, I am aware how floor crossing takes place”
Answering a question, Joshi, however, claimed that the vote share of the Congress is intact though BJP came to power at the Centre in 2014 even as he asserted that the Congress enjoys the confidence of majority of voters in the country.
Commenting on Assam situation, Joshi threw a challenge to the BJP leaders in the neighbouring state to see what will happen in 2019, indicating a reversal of results in the Lok Sabha polls then.
