Directive to pet owners in Jowai

JOWAI: The District Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Officer, West Jaintia Hills has asked all pet owners to vaccinate their dogs against rabies at their nearest veterinary hospital, dispensary etc. It has also been informed that the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) will provide financial assistance under ‘regular grant’ for the year 2015-2016 to the Animal Welfare Organizations recognized by the Board. The schemes under ‘regular grant’ include shelter house for animals, animal birth control and immunization of stray dogs, natural calamity relief to animals and maintenance of reserve cattle grant.
The Board has also directed the Animal Welfare organizations (AWOs) to submit their application in the  prescribed format along with the required documents containing animal verification certificate, inspection report certified by the Animal Husbandry official with endorsement of the District Magistrate.
The filled up application will be forwarded to the board through respective Animal Welfare Board, Animal Husbandry department.
