SHILLONG: The 14th installation ceremony of the Rotary Club of Orchid City was held at the State Convention Centre on July 2 for the Rotary year 2016-17.
The Club had bagged many appreciation awards in the Rotary District 3240 comprising of 8 states of the North East and North Bengal up to Durgapur. The Club also won the Best Club in the District for the year 2015-06 under the leadership of Bedarius Shylla who also won the best president of the zone.
Chief guest of the occasion, D.P. Wallang, said that the work of the club is not known by other people except the beneficiaries and at the same time requested the members of the club to consider the proposal for helping students of the State to clear the JEE and NEET programmes.
New president Pankaj Kapoor assured that programmes like e-learning, Wash in Schools – a UNICEF project – and footwear distribution would soon be carried out in the current year.
