Clarification sought over arrest

SHILLONG: Jaintia Hills pressure groups comprising of JSM, EJNC, HNYF-EJZ, HANM-JH, HYC-WJ, JSU-MEC and KJNU-EJU have asked the East Jaintia Hills district administration to clarify on the arrest of Deo Kyndait, president of Jaintia Students Movement (JSM) and Sambormi Lyngdoh, general secretary of East Jaintia National Council (EJNC), along with three others on charges of extortion and assisting the banned HNLC outfit.
The five suspected persons were arrested on July 11 from Khliehriat West.
The pressure groups have asked the authorities concerned to clarify within July 13 on what basis they had been arrested.
