SHILLONG: An anti-liquor raid conducted by personnel from the Sadar Police Station led to the arrest of eight people including one female and a transgender in the city on Wednesday even as 39,599 litres of IMFL was seized.
Police sources informed that the female and the transgender have been convicted under Section 110 of the Meghalaya Police Act earlier too and the cops are looking forward to book them for repeated offence this time.
Beatrice caught again
Meanwhile, Beatrice Marbaniang, a well known face by now in Keating Road, was arrested yet again on Wednesday for indulging in the illegal sale of liquor. She was convicted for the third time recently for indulging in the illegal trade.
Without any fear or remorse Marbaniang got back to her old ways despite her previous convictions by the court.
Acting on information from reliable sources, personnel from Sadar Police Station, Shillong laid a trap and caught her red handed while she was indulging in the illegal sale of liquor on Wednesday evening. This is the fourth time that she has been arrested and a case shall be taken against her under the Meghalaya Police Act.
