Pro-ILP groups ask Mukul to clarify on entry, exit points

SHILLONG: The consortium of 13 pro- ILP pressure groups have asked Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to convene a meeting at the earliest to give a clarification on the status of the move to set up entry and exit points in the State, besides certain clarifications on the Tenants Verification and Regulation Bill and the Amendment of the Benami Transaction Detection and Prohibition Bill.
In a memorandum submitted to the chief minister, the KSU, FKJGP and HNYF, on behalf of the group, expressed concern over the slow progress in setting up of entry and exit points and the delay in implementation of the Tenants Verification and Regulation Bill and the Amendment of the Benami Transaction, Detection and Prohibition Bill, aimed at regulating influx.
The pressure groups sought clarification on the status report of the exit and entry points, currently being referred to the SIA (Social Impact Assessment) besides a clarification on the Tenants Verification Bill which has been referred to the Select Committee of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
“To our knowledge, there has not been even a single meeting to discuss the draft Bill,” the pressure groups claimed.
