SHILLONG: The regular showers in the past few weeks have exposed the bad condition of road construction in the city with questioned being raised on the ability of the PWD to construct all weather and durable roads.
Potholes on Shillong road are available aplenty and in almost all the internal roads in the city.
Residents have alleged that the potholes have grown both in number and dimension since the department concerned paid no attention to fill such potholes.
Residents also observed that during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the city on May 27 last, the department had engaged labourers in the night hours to hurriedly cover some potholes in the city on those roads through which the Prime Minister’s convoy was scheduled to pass.
Some citizens feared that the potholes would lead to some serious accident someday if left unattended.
Incidentally, attempts were made to contact the PWD minister for his comments but he remained elusive.
