PRRS has claimed 3,613 pigs since April

Aizawl: The dreaded Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) disease has killed 3,613 pigs in six districts of Mizoram since early April this year, according to the records of the state Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department.
The disease has struck the six districts of Champhai, Serchhip, Lunglei, Lawngtlai, Saiha and Aizawl and only two districts of the state, Kolasib and Mamit, were spared.
An official statement said the state government had prepared and sent a proposal on an Action Plan for Control and Containment of PRRS to the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare in Delhi. (PTI)
