Lajong’s Chinglensana, Isaac in National team camp

Shillong: Shillong Lajong’s Centre Back, Chinglensana Singh and Midfielder Isaac Vanmalsawma have been selected for the Indian National Senior Team Camp which started from July 25 in New Delhi for the preparation of the exposure trip and international friendly matches in US from August 1 to 14.
The two Lajong youngsters have reported to the India Camp on July 24 and will begin their preparation under National Team Head Coach Stephen Constantine. The final list of the travelling squad to the US will be announced later this month.
Lajong youngsters, Chinglensana and Isaac made their I-League debut for in  I-League 2016 Season. They got their first senior team call in the AFC Asia Cup 2019 Qualifiers Camp but it was only Chinglensana Singh, who made it to the final list of the Indian Squad.
India then played two matches, that is, in Laos and Guwahati respectively. Sana, however, is yet to make his debut for the National Team.
Lajong to play Independence cup in Mizoram
Meanwhile, Shillong Lajong FC departed for Mizoram on Monday evening as they will participate in the Independence Day Celebration Invitation Football Tournament 2016 in Mizoram.
Lajong are placed in Group B, with teams, Bethlehem VT FC, Dinthar FC, Ramhlun North FC and Zo United FC.
The teams in Group A are: AIFF U-19, Aizawl FC, Chanmari FC, Chanmari West FC and Chhinga Venga FC.
The tournament kicked off on Monday and Lajong will play their first match on July 29 vs Bethlehem FC at 12pm.
Lajong FC Head Coach, Thangboi Singto, about the upcoming tournament, he said, “This tournament is like a pre-season tour for the team which will help us prepare for upcoming football tournaments in the months to come. We are looking forward to a good and positive campaign in Aizawl.”
The semi-finals will take place on August 11 and 12 while the finals will be held on August 15.
