CEM to meet pro, anti-road project groups on Monday

SHILLONG: Feeling the heat on the vexed road project issue following the KSU protest at the KHADC office premises on Thursday, the ruling People’s Democratic Forum (PDF) in an urgent meeting decided to invite both the pro and anti-road  project groups for talks on Monday.
The meeting is scheduled to be held at 1 PM.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, KHADC CEM PN Syiem said, “As many as 10 representatives from each organization will be allowed o attend the meeting. HSPDP MDCs Teilinia Thangkhiew and PS Syiem along with other MDCs will also be present.” (Clarifying his stand on the issuance of the NOC to the Nongstoin-Wahkaji road project, Syiem said, “We have made it very clear that NOC will not be issued for Wahkaji-Mawthabah road as per the recommendation of the Committee on Nongstoin-Wahkaji-Mawthabah road project. Proper consultation will be done if NOC is to be granted.”
Syiem added that the PDF had decided that the Executive Committee (EC) of the KHADC would hold a review meeting on the issuance of the NOC.
“The review meeting of the EC will decide upon the issuance of the NOC for the seven road projects,” he said.
