SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) will take the final call on granting NOC for acquisition of land for Byrnihat-Shillong rail project shortly.
Indicating this here on Saturday, the council chief PN Syiem said the executive council would discuss the matter before taking any decision.
The execution of Byrnihat-Shillong rail project has been delayed due to KHADC’s failure to issue the mandatory NOC for acquisition of land.
It is learn that the railway authorities had sought 184 hectares of land for the construction  of the rail line  from Byrnihat to Lailad , a village around  17 kilometers from Byrnihat .
“Let the concerned department ready all the papers and then we will see on the matter,” Syiem said.
The survey for the project is almost completed and the survey of the remaining five-kilometre stretch would resume once the monsoon season is over.
