Fire breaks out at labour camp
On August. 30 around 2.45 pm, fire broke out in a labour camp at 1st Ground, Polo, Shillong. As a result, utensils, clothes and documents belonging to the labourers occupying the labour camp were destroyed. Cause of fire is reportedly due to burning of charcoal ‘chullah’ by the labourers. Matter is under enquiry.
Cattle lifters held  
On August  30 evening, residents of Umtasor village under Nongpoh PS (Ri-Bhoi) apprehended two persons  Shain Lyttan (22) and  Bashan A Sangma (23) accusing them of cattle lifting and handed them over to Police at Nongpoh PS.
Truck fatally injures handyman
In a freak accident, a handyman of the truck was killed after he was run over by the same truck. On August 30 at around 7 am, the handyman Nayone Burman (22), accidentally fell down from the running truck (ML-05C-2135) and was fatally run over by the same truck.
Car tapes recovered
On August 30 at around 9.15 am, one Winky Mawthoh (18) of Mawblei under Madanrting police station was apprehended from Nongthymmai Point, and two car tapes were recovered from his possession.
Four fake birth certificates detected
Dr. J.K Marak, DM & HO, East Garo Hills lodged a complaint (August 29), that four persons, Sengseng Ch Marak,  Rangrang K Marak, Selang R Marak and Keerak N Sangma submitted fake birth certificates in his office at Williamnagar (East Garo Hills).
House burgled
One Arki Daroi Langstang lodged a complaint that on August 29 between 8 am and 8 pm, miscreants broke into his house at Lumsohphoh Springside, Shillong and stole one laptop computer and one mobile phone.
Mentally ill shifted to MIMHANS
On August 29 at around 8.30 pm, one mentally ill person namely, Paltu Biswa was found loitering at Mawlai Nongkwar Block-IV,. He was shifted to MIMHANS.
Woman knocked down
On August 29 at around 8.30 pm, one motorcycle (ML-05H-8201) ridden by Rinku Balmiki knocked down a woman identified as Newtiful Lyngdoh Nonglait at Mawiong. Victim sustained injuries and was removed to Civil Hospital.
NGT ban violation
On August 30 at about 6 pm, Police detected one truck (AS-11AC-8018) driven by Salong Nongtdu (28 yrs) at Umkiang , East Jaintia Hills illegally transporting coal in violation of NGT order.
