SHILLONG: The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association called on the chief minister here on Wednesday to discuss the pending issues pertaining to the salary of the 4th teacher in the upper primary SSA schools and salary enhancement of SSA teachers. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, president of the association M.K. Raswai said, “Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has requested us to be patient. The CM also suggested that  the 4th teacher can be shifted to the lower primary section to ease the problem.”
Referring to the demand for increase of salaries, Sangma informed that it will be applicable to those teachers who have fulfilled the National Council of Teachers Education (NCTE) norms.
For the set of teachers who have not fulfilled NCTE norms yet, it is the Education department of the state that will enhance their salaries as approved by the Project Approval Board of the Ministry of Human Resources Development on enhancement of salary of the teachers working under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).
