SHILLONG: Luphina Kharumnuid, who has been teaching Khasi at Green Hill Higher Secondary School in Sohryngkham for the past 29 years, received the ‘Most Loving and Rocking Teacher of the Year’ award on Monday. Addressing the teachers and students at a function organised by Red FM in Shillong, Kharumnuid said, “I am happy to see my students succeed in life. But teaching them was never easy.”
Meanwhile, P.T Sawkmie, MDC,   Mawlai Constituency, participated in Teachers’ Day celebrations in three schools in Umsaw Mawjynrong.
Sawkmie said he chose the remote village to appreciate the commitment of the teachers here. “It is the dedication of these teachers that the State is being able to produce doctors, engineers, architects, IAS officers, political and religious leaders,” he added.
