TURA:  Adding fuel to the fire, the authorities of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) have directed the agitating employees to attend work by September 14 with a warning that ‘No work, no pay’ policy would be adopted if any of them failed to turn up.
In a circular issued on Monday the authorities also warned that strong action, which includes suspension or termination of services, would be taken against the employees if they failed to resume their respective duties.
It may be mentioned that the employees have been on an indefinite pen down strike since last week in protest against the failure of the authorities to release their pending nine months’ salaries.
On Friday last, an assurance was given by the authorities that the salaries would be released by September end if they called off the stir. However, the employees decided against calling off the strike in the absence of any concrete evidence that the assurance would materialise.
