City students interact with Bollywood stars
SHILLONG: Students of Martin Luther Christian University and Kiddies Corner Secondary School here interacted with the crew members of ‘Pink’, the upcoming Bollywood film that has a Shillong girl in the cast, on Tuesday.
The interactive session organised by Jio Infocom Ltd in Shillong and seven other cities across the country brought youngsters closer to the Bollywood dazzle through Reliance Jio’s newly launched Wi-Fi network.
The students at MLCU interacted with Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, upcoming star and local musician Andrea Tariang and director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury.
Bachchan, who was replying to questions from his Juhu office in Mumbai, pointed out the advantages of the digital age, especially for the people in the North East, stating that lakhs of students across India are connected at the same time.
When asked by a student on her journey from a small town like Shillong to Mumbai, Tariang said she had to make adjustments while adapting to the metro life of Mumbai.
On her experience of working with Bachchan, Tariang recalled that she was very nervous and excited at the same time as his voice gave her goose bumps.
Meanwhile, in line with the Digital India Movement, Jio initiated a free Wi-Fi service in selected colleges across India. In Shillong, the company has already completed installation of the service at St Dominic College, Sankardev College and MLCU. Students can avail themselves of the services on their phones and laptops.
