Survey of India map not acceptable  
SHILLONG: The State Government has made it clear that the map prepared by the Survey of India in 2009 is not acceptable. Replying to a question by K.P Pangniang (HSPDP), Deputy Chief Minister in charge Revenue RC Laloo said the government had already lodged a complaint with the Survey of India since the map was defective and many areas of differences (disputed areas along the inter-state border) were not included in it. At present the State Government is using the map prepared by the Survey of Meghalaya for official purpose.
Undue delay in road construction  
SHILLONG: Undue delay in the construction of a road at Songsak irked local legislator Nihim D. Shira on Thursday. While PWD (Roads) Minister MM Danggo informed the House about progress in Songsak Agitokgre-Agalgre road project, Shira said only 75 per cent of the work was carried out. Shira also said the contractor entrusted with the work had withdrawn an amount of Rs 95 lakh, but the work was slow. Later, the work was allotted to a GSU member, Shira said and urged the intervention of the state government to complete the project.
Sand mining
SHILLONG: In reply to a separate question by HSPDP’s Ardent Basaiawmoit, Forest and Environment Minister Clement Marak said it was not a fact that stone and sand quarrying was banned in Meghalaya, but added that environment clearance and license from the competent authority should be obtained before taking up quarrying of stone and sand.
Drug dealers
SHILLONG: Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh informed the Assembly that for the last seven years, as many as 268 drug dealers were arrested in the state. The minister was responding to a question by UDP’s Embhahlang Syiemlieh.
