JOWAI: One Wenly Vaichei (44) of Saitsama village in West Jaintia Hills was killed on the spot in a road mishap at Mookyndur village near DMR check post at around 2.30 pm on Thursday.
Another 23 years old youth, Reedem Vaichei of the same village, injured in the incident is reportedly in critical condition. According to WJH Police, the deceased, the driver of pick-up vehicle, who was travelling towards Shillong was in the process of overtaking another vehicle when a 12-wheeler truck dashed against it.
The pick-up vehicle was loaded with furnished timber products which were being illegally transported.
