SHILLONG: Entrepreneurship is the only solution to unemployment in the State and elsewhere, said Assembly Speaker A.T Mondal at the 13th Annual Celebration of Sree Narayana Guru Cultural Centre (SNGCC), Shillong, and 162nd birth anniversary of Jagatpurush Sree Narayana Guru at Asom Kristi Kendra here on Saturday. Lauding SNGCC’s initiative to felicitate local entrepreneurs, Mondal said the Guru’s philosophy of attaining economic independence through entrepreneurship.
Sree Narayana Guru, a philosopher and social reformer, had stressed on the need for social uplift of the downtrodden with his threefold teaching — ‘Attain freedom through education, attain economic independence through entrepreneurship and strengthen through organization’.
Mondal said organizations should propagate and create opinions for a healthier society. On religion, the Speaker quoted the Guru as saying, “Any religion that makes a better man of one is good.”
He concluded by urging the hosts to start ventures in Shillong similar to what several Sree Narayana Guru organisations are doing in other parts of the country.
Nongthymmai legislator Jenimo Mawthoh said, “When we look at the world affairs, there are system failures everywhere, and at home in Meghalaya, as I see it we are on the verge of collapse… We will do good by strengthening our bonding.”
GK Sasidharan, former VC, University of Calicut, informed that Guru wrote 62 literary works, which are mostly philosophical, while 90% of these works are scientific or on development of modern and quantum physics.
