SHILLONG: A taxi driver who ferries passengers to Iewduh was on Thursday surprised by the unusually smooth flow of traffic along the Anjalee petrol pump-Iewduh route which is usually marked by congestion.
He was not aware that the chief minister was visiting the area. On seeing police officials deployed along the stretch who instructed drivers to drive in a single line and avoid overtaking, the driver told this reporter that had the vehicles been managed in this fashion everyday there would not have been no traffic snarl in the area. Traffic police are stationed only at Mawlonghat junction.”
Meanwhile, farmers and traders were made to wait for an hour on account of the visit.
