‘Give gold medal to govt for bad governance’

SHILLONG: Former ANVC-B leader and BJP West Garo Hills district unit president Rimpu Marak said on Thursday the cash-strapped State Government “is trying to divert packages meant for surrendered rebels through its pseudo appointees”.
The former rebel leader also said that the government should be given a gold medal for bad governance.
Marak said some state officials have been appointed as “pseudo chairman, secretary and the commander-in-chief of the disbanded ANVC-B and they are finalising the list and diverting the packages meant for the cadres”.
The former rebel said the Government was trying to create rift among cadres by keeping the actual leaders in the dark about rehabilitation proceedings whereas the surrendered cadres who “are closely associated with State officials know everything”.
“These pseudo leaders are collecting the account numbers of deserters and including them in the list without the knowledge of the actual leaders. How can the Government allow such manipulations? It’s a sign of bad governance. If this is the attitude of the State Government, the morality of good governance is broken,” he said and added that the State Government should be given a gold medal for bad governance.
It may be mentioned that the ANVC-B cadres are still awaiting their rehabilitation package after the group entered into peace talks with the Centre and the State Government.
