Guv encourages underprivileged students

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Governor V Shanmuganthan on Saturday encouraged underprivileged students to grow up with certain set of values in their lives.
Speaking at the felicitation programme organised by We Care Foundation, Shillong, for the underprivileged and meritorious students here on Saturday, V Shammuganathan said that students should treat themselves as equals even if they are less fortunate and make efforts to succeed in their life.
Urging the students to read biographies of Mother Teresa and Thomas Edison, he advised the students to be bold and courageous in their approach to life.
Stating that he believes in empowerment of the locals, the Governor requested the Foundation to teach driving to five local youths of  the State before its next annual general meeting.
The Governor also expressed concern over the lack of health facilities in the State especially for pregnant mothers who do not receive proper treatment.
10 students, principals of the school and some doctors were also felicitated on the occasion.
