NEC signs contract with private firm

Operation of 50-seater flight from Shillong airport

SHILLONG: The North Eastern Council (NEC) has signed a contract with AAA Aviation Private Limited to operate its flights from Shillong airport.
Informing this here on Thursday NEC Chairman Ram Muivah said that the private company has to start its services within four months. The private company will operate 50-seater planes and the flight will operate on Shillong-Kolkata, Kolkata-Guwahati-Shillong routes. Besides, one more airport has been added to the route.
Earlier, three private airlines had responded to an expression of interest inviting private airlines to operate from Shillong and other smaller airports in the North East.
It may be mentioned that Alliance Air, (a wholly owned subsidiary of Air India Limited) is currently operating from Shillong airport to Kolkata.
