Dry day
The Deputy Commissioner (Excise), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has declared October 10 and 11 as dry day throughout East Khasi Hills District on account of Durga Puja. All bonded warehouse, IMFL shops, bars, hotels, clubs and outstill shops shall remain closed on these days.
Awareness prog
An awareness programme on ‘Social Networking and Cyber Crime’ for higher secondary schools and colleges was organized by District Child Protection Unit, Tura in collaboration with State Child Protection Society, (ICPS), Shillong under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme, Social Welfare Department on Thursday in Tura.
Public notice
The  District Magistrate, South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat has  informed that immersion of idols made of plaster of paris during festival like Durga Puja have an adverse impact on the environment by causing damage to the aquatic ecosystem and poses serious health consequences as these materials are non-dissolvable and non-biodegradable. Therefore, the public are requested to refrain from using such harmful materials.  Defaulters will be punished as per law.

The DC (Supply), East Khasi Hills has informed that ISS Grade Sugar 30 under TPDS for the month of April has been released and will be distributed through the respective Fair Price Shops at the scale of 3 kg per card at Rs 30/- per kg.
