SHILLONG: A 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped and assaulted in Upper Shillong five days ago and an FIR was lodged in this connection on Saturday, police said.
The incident happened on October 3 when one Balajied Syiem assaulted and raped the girl in Upper Shillong under Jhalupara police outpost, police said on Saturday and added that an investigating team visited the spot after the complaint was lodged. The accused has not been arrested yet.
The police said the girl is admitted in a hospital.
Earlier this year, a 19-year-old girl at 4 1/2 Mile in Upper Shillong was brutally raped and murdered by one Vicky Syiemlieh.
In another case, police had arrested a man for raping a 13-year-old girl at Nongwar village in East Jaintia Hills.
A woman lodged a complaint that in August, one Batpateng Nadon (24) raped a 13-year-old girl at Nongwar village.
