SHILLONG: The MPCC has slapped a three-year suspension on KHADC CEM and Congress legislator PN Syiem for anti-party activities. A formal letter in this regard was sent to Syiem by MPCC president DD Lapang here on Saturday.
Lapang in a statement issued to the media on Saturday said that the MPCC has also accepted the resignation letters submitted by two MDCs, N. Antonio War and Banteidor Lyngdoh. The MPPC is yet to accept the resignation letters of Victor Ranee, Hadrian Lyngdoh and Albinus Lyngdoh.
“Since information was received by the MPCC that three other MDCs want to have discussion on the matter, their letters have been kept in abeyance,” the MPCC statement said.
Incidentally, Syiem had received only verbal information on Friday regarding his suspension which resulted in five Congress MDCs resigning from the party in protest.
“Even today, I did not receive any official letter about my suspension from the party,” Syiem said here on Saturday.
He also said that the party should have followed the normal process of issuing show cause notice to him.
Asked whether the three Congress MDCs who had resigned are keen to have a discussion with the MPCC, the KHADC CEM said that it was only a tactic of the MPCC to create confusion.
“All the five Congress MDCs who resigned were with me during the meeting on Saturday,” Syiem said.
