WKH headmen demand upgradation of health centre

SHILLONG: The Lai-Lyngdoh People’s Development Movement (LLPDM), an umbrella body comprising headmen and elders of 36-40 villages in West Khasi Hills district, has urged the Health and Family Welfare Department to approve upgradation of Nongkynjang sub-centre to primary health centre.  In a letter to Health and Family Welfare Minister Roshan Warjri, LLPDM chairman T.S Shangrit and its general secretary R Stanly Kharbani said the upgradation will improve healthcare in the area, which has an estimated population of 6,000. Warjri said she would look into the matter.
