Constable’s death: State police team to visit AP

SHILLONG: Meghalaya police will send its team to Andhra Pradesh to investigate the death of the state police constable whose body was found on a railway track on Sunday. The body of constable Aji Balachandran Nair (50) with multiple head injuries was found on the tracks at Nuzividu, around 19 km from Eluru in West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh.
Additional DGP (law and order) SB Singh said two members of Nair’s family have reached Andhra Pradesh where the railway police are already inquiring the case.
Nair, an unarmed branch constable who was posted in Kharkutta in North Garo Hills, was on the Guwahati-Thiruvananthapuram train that left on Friday. He was with his colleague K. Muraleedharan, a sub-inspector from the fifth battalion.
