Meet for peace and devp held in GH

TURA: The 13th Peace and Developmental Meeting of villagers from Chibi-nang and Tikrikilla region was held recently at Chambakpara Village near Chibinang.
Representatives from all communities residing in the area like Muslims, Garos, Rabhas and Bodos including,  Nokmas, Gaon-buras, Mongols etc attended the meeting where several resolutions con-cerning the welfare of the region and its people were also taken.
The meeting resolved to closely monitor any suspicious movement of people and to strictly deal with anyone involved in anti-social activities.
In view of various crimes having been committed in the Gaptuli Forests areas over the years, the meeting unanimously resolved to urged the Government to set up a Border Outpost or Police Outpost in the vicinity.
It also resolved to approach concerned autho-rities for the setting up of more village councils or village courts for the plain belt region under the direct supervision of the GDC to try all civil cases based on traditional customs and practises of Garos in their respective localities.
Grievances being faced by different villages like bad roads, power supply, bad bridges, education etc were also discussed.
