SHILLONG: Minister for School Education and Literacy Deborah C. Marak said on Tuesday the reason for the delay in announcing fresh results for the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) will be examined thoroughly. She also asked the agitating D.El.Ed trainees of the 2013 batch to cooperate with the Education Department. “The teachers are facing a genuine problem and the department is seriously looking into it,” she told reporters here on Tuesday. Urging the teachers to have patience, Marak said, “The aggrieved teachers should wait for some time and let the officials concerned do their task.” Admitting that there are problems within the department, the Minister said the department needs to be streamlined. “With just one year left for the elections (2018 elections), the department will try its best to rectify the problems,” she added. The D.El.Ed trainees had threatened to march towards the Main Secretariat building along with the support of MSSASA leaders if National Institute of Open Schooling did not announce fresh results by November 3. Earlier, the trainees served a two weeks’ deadline, which ended on October 30, to the Minister apprising her of the matter relating to the delay in the announcement of results by NIOS.
