Minor rape accused escapes from Childline

JOWAI: A 13-year-old boy who was apprehended by Jowai Police for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl and attempting to rape another seven-year-old escaped from Childline here on Wednesday.
The mother of the eight-year-old girl, a resident of Iawthymme, Ladthadlaboh, Jowai lodged a complaint that the accused, a resident of Mookyrdup here raped her daughter while she was on her way back home from school on Tuesday. “The boy pulled her into a market hut and committed the crime,” she stated.
Another woman lodged a separate complaint that the same boy had attempted to rape her seven-year-old daughter.
The police immediately apprehended the accused and handed him over to Childline, Jowai unit. However, Childline intimated that the boy had escaped early Wednesday morning.
