SHILLONG: The All India Organisation of Chemist and Druggist has called a 24-hour bandh from November 22 midnight in protest against the Centre’s move to regularise sale of medicines online.
The general secretary of Meghalaya Healthcare Association, Barun Chakraborty, said on Tuesday that they have requested all nursing homes and hospitals in the State to issue prescribed medicines to patients on November 23. He said all but the government hospitals have agreed to the request of the Association.
The Central government has decided to regularise medicine sales through e-pharmacy.
A 24-hour closure of medicine shops will inconvenience several locals, especially in case of emergency. Many people are of the view that the bandh duration should have been shorter to ensure that patients are not affected.
