TURA: A combined body of students and social organizations of William-nagar have given a joint appeal calling for the unconditional release of a primary school teacher who was abducted by uniden-tified gunmen from his home in Williamnagar on November 4 night.
The SSA Lower Primary School teacher Richard Stranger M Sangma was resting at his home in the village when the unidentified armed men took him hostage. Since then, there has been no communication between the teacher and his family.
The combined NGOs, GSU, FAF, AIGU, AAYF, ICFS, and mothers’ Federation have expressed their displeasure over his abduction. “The abduction is very regrettable and unwarranted as teachers in society are highly regarded and targeting them for any ill-motive and harm is unwanted,” stated the NGOs.
They also pointed out that repeated incidents of abductions and extortion of teachers serving in the rural interior areas is intimidating for the teaching fraternity which ultimately results in the student community getting affected.
