SHILLONG:  NCP president Sanbor Shullai has stated that the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) is attempting to encroach on the scheduled area in matters of building permission and regulations.
The party has submitted a memorandum to Governor V. Shanmuganathan in this regard. “The MUDA is the institution that looks after the areas falling under the European ward only,” the memorandum stated.
The party also requested for the immediate withdrawal of illegally implemented building bye-laws of MUDA in the tribal area under the administration/territorial jurisdiction of the District Council.
The memorandum also urged the Governor to direct MUDA not to encroach on the jurisdiction of the District Council in matters of building bye-laws and also issued a notification for withdrawal of all circulars, notification and orders wherein the jurisdiction of the District Council is encroached upon.
The party also submitted the memorandum to Urban Affairs Minister Ronnie Lyngdoh and KHADC CEM P.N. Syiem.
